Day 1 Airport – Bukit Lawang
Arrive in the airport at…. We will fetch you from the airport & proceed to Bohorok/Bukit Lawang, the orang utans rehabilitation centre. The journey leads you past the scenic rubber & palm oil plantations. In the afternoon you will arrive in Bohorok. Overnight stay in Eco Lodge Bukit Lawang Cottages or Rindu Alam Hotel, both are located directly on the bank of Bohorok river.
Day 2 Bukit Lawang/Bohorok – Brastagi
After breakfast, we will walk for around 45 minutes at the side of Bohorok river to the orang utans feeding area. Prior to arrival at rehabilitation centre you have to cross the river by small wooden canoe. Thereafter do a short climbing through the tropical rainforest at the slope of Mt.Leuser until you find the feeding area. It is suggested to have comfortable sportive shoes. At the feeding area you can watch the part ranger feeds the orangutans. The rest of the day you have free program until time for us to depart to Brastagi via Medan. Brastagi is mountain resort in the Karo Highland that surroundings with two active volcanoes, Sibayak & Sinabung. Before we arrive in hotel, you can also make a stop at fruits market. Overnight stay in hotel Grand Mutiara or hotel Sinabung or similar in Brastagi.
Day 3 Brastagi – Samosir island
In the morning you will visit Dokan, a traditional Batak Karonese village. Here you can observe traditional houses of the tribe & daily activities of the villagers. Thereafter we depart to Lake Toba. En route we can stops at the Sipiso-piso waterfall with its splendid view over the lake Toba & resorted Royal Palace of King Purba at Pematang Purba. You can also make couple stops at local farms such as pineapple, ginger & coffee plantations that belong to the local farmers. In the afternoon you will arrive in Parapat at the lake Toba, from where you embark the ferry to cross the lake to Samosir island. Overnight stay in hotel Toledo Inn or hotel Silintong, both are located on the lake side.
Day 4 Samosir – Tour on this island
Today we will make excursion to several Batak Toba villages on this island. First we will visit Simanindo village where you can see a performance of traditional Batak Toba dances, then to Ambarita village where you can hear the interesting legend of megalithic cultural objects. From Ambarita you can enjoy scenic view over Lake Toba from Sigarantung view while drink a cup of hot coffee/tea (OPTIONAL). After that we go to Tomok to visit the noble cemetery of King Sidabutar in Tomok. During the excursion you will have a chance to walk & see the way of life of the local Batak Toba tribe. Overnight stay in hotel Toledo Inn or hotel Silintong. Your room has beautiful view to the lake Toba.
Day 5 Samosir island – Padang Sidempuan
After breakfast we cross the lake back to Parapat. Drive along the southern shores of lake Toba with its lovely ricefields and huge Batak graves. On the way you can make a stop at the traditional hand weaving village of Jangga. Here local women make Ulos cloth still in traditional way. At noon we will arrive in Tarutung, centre of the Protestant Batak church. Thereafter we continue driving through the Bukit Barisan mountanical ridge until Padang Sidempuan. Overnight stay in hotel Natama in Padang Sidempuan.
Day 6 Padang Sidempuan – Bukittinggi
The route to Bukittinggi in the Minangkabau Highlands bring you again right through the Bukit Barisan mountainical ridge of Sumatra. It is an remarkable tour in which you will drive through the road bordered on both sides by wall of impenetrable tropical rain forest with up and down windy route. En route you can stop at a nature reserve called Rimbo Panti for observing the charming flora and fauna and herbarium. Bonjol with its equator monument. Do not forget! you just passed through the equator line. Late in the afternoon you will arrive in Bukittinggi in the heart of Minangkabau highlands. Overnight stay in hotel Campago or similar in Bukittinggi.
Day 7 Bukittinggi – city tour
Today we will make a sight seeing in Bukittinggi. Starting with Fort de Kock fortress, situated on a strategic point of Bukittinggi. Then to the famous Ngarai Sianok, Japanese cave, museum, the colorful market and the hand weaving village of Pandai Sikat. Afternoon free at your own program to scroll this pleasant and cool city of Bukittinggi. Overnight stay in hotel Campago or similar in Bukittinggi.
Day 8 Bukittinggi Tour
A full day tour to the natural and cultural objects such as: Tabek Patah with its beautiful Panorama, Batusangkar is considered the centre of Minangkabau culture that has some historical remains of stone tablets with ancient Hindu scrip, Pagaruyung is the cultural highlight of the visit with its Buffalo horn shape beautiful Minangkabau palace. Balimbing village that still has some old houses dated back to couple centuries ago. On your return to Bukittinggi, you can make a stop at the coast of Lake Singkarak. Overnight stay in hotel Campago or similar in Bukittinggi.
Day 9 Bukittinggi – Lake Maninjau – Padang
After breakfast we leave Bukittinggi to Koto Gadang the silver village of West Sumatra province. From Koto Gadang, we continue the tour to Embun pagi, a place to enjoy the fresh air mist and beautiful view over Lake Maninjau surrounded by green hills. You can also make a stop at Lawang village famous for its sugar cane products. The processing of sugar cane is still in traditional way. After that we descend to the lake Maninjau passing its 44 curves. Lake Maninjau is one of the most treasured and worth while place to visit in West Sumatra. Free at your own program until time to depart to Padang. You can walk to the surrounding areas or just enjoy the fresh air and beautiful peacefull panorama. In the afternoon we depart to Padang via Anai valley and Anai waterfall. Overnight stay in Hotel Savali or similar in Padang.
Day 10 Padang – Airport
Today we transfer you to the airport to catch your flight to next destination. Ends of your fine tour with us on Sumatra.
